This is placeholder text, not a legal document.

It describes how TrivTrak actually behaves, so it is useful to read — but it has not been written or reviewed by anyone qualified to write one of these. Replace it before the service is offered to the public.

What we collect

If you hold an account: your email address, the name you chose, and the teams, check-ins and scores that belong to you. If you play as a guest: the name you typed for the roster and an anonymous reference for that one game — no email, and no account.

What we do with email

Email is used for running the service only — confirming an address, resetting a password, and sending sign-in links. We do not send marketing email.

Addresses carried over from the previous version of this system are recorded as never having been asked for marketing consent, and are not mailed.

What is public

Scoreboards, final results and venue leaderboards are public: a team name, its scores and its home venue can be seen by anyone with the link, including on a screen in the venue. Email addresses are never shown on any public page.

Live updates

While a game is running your device subscribes to a stream of change notices. Those notices carry identifiers and a sequence number — never scores, and never anybody's name. Your team's own answers travel on a separate channel that only your team can read.

Error reporting

When something breaks we record what broke. Those reports carry no user identifiers, no request contents, and no cookies, and any single-use link in a web address is removed before the report leaves the server.

How long we keep things

Game data — teams, rounds, scores and leaderboards — is kept indefinitely, because a leaderboard spanning years is the point of it. Short-lived items such as sign-in links and live-update records are deleted automatically within hours.

Your choices

You can change your display name and email address, and sign out everywhere, from your account page. To have an account removed, contact the venue operator who runs your game.
